How do patients feel on nitrous oxide?

Nitrous oxide is called “laughing gas”, because it produces a “happy state”. You might experience a sense of relaxation, “dreaming” feeling and may smell a faint sweet scent. Nitrous oxide also numbs pain and may help suppress a gag reflex. People under nitrous oxide may feel “tingly” on lips, fingers and legs, flushing in the face as well as sweating.
